Trip Audit Terms

These are the terms for the SIDETRAKKED Trip Audit: the Trip Compass and the Trip Blueprint. The version of this page in place on the day you pay is the one that applies to that payment. A copy of these terms is emailed to you with your Trip Planning Questionnaire link, and again when your Blueprint invoice is paid.

What a Trip Audit is

A Trip Audit is a trip planning and research service, delivered in two stages. SIDETRAKKED is not a travel agent and does not book, reserve or sell any travel. You make your own bookings, directly with the providers you choose. SIDETRAKKED never takes, holds or passes on money for any travel booking, and receives no commission, referral fee or other payment from any travel provider for anything recommended in a Trip Audit.

  • Trip Compass: three or four researched options for your trip, built from your Trip Planning Questionnaire, with routes, cost estimates, strengths and watchouts, the Blueprint price for each option, and a recommendation.
  • Trip Blueprint: a detailed plan for the option you choose, delivered with a Prep Guide, a companion spreadsheet and a custom Google map.

Everything is delivered electronically: I email you a link to your files, which are PDF documents, a spreadsheet and a map. Support during your trip is not included.

Prices

All prices are in Canadian dollars. GST/HST is not charged: SIDETRAKKED is not registered for GST/HST and qualifies as a small supplier.

  • A base is a place you stay two nights or more. A one-night stop on a travel day is not a base and is not charged. A country is charged only when you have a base in it: changing planes in another country, or one night there on the way, does not add a country charge.
  • A Trip Audit covers one region of the world. A trip across more than one region or continent is quoted separately, in writing, before you pay anything.
  • Every option in your Trip Compass shows its Blueprint price. If you change the bases or countries of the option you choose, the price is worked out again at the same rates, and your Blueprint invoice shows the final price.

Credits and discounts

  • Compass credit: the CAD $400 you paid for your Trip Compass is credited towards your Blueprint if you go ahead within 90 days of paying for the Compass. After 90 days, the Blueprint is charged at full price.
  • Returning clients: CAD $150 off the Blueprint for anyone who has paid in full for a completed Blueprint before, for 18 months from the date that Blueprint was paid. The Trip Compass is always full price.
  • Credits and discounts appear as their own lines on your Blueprint invoice. They have no cash value.

How you pay

  • Trip Compass: by card, on the secure checkout page that opens when you click “Start with your Trip Compass” on the Trip Audit page.
  • Trip Blueprint: by card, through an invoice emailed to you once you have chosen your option. Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date.
  • Card payments are processed by Stripe, a payment company, which emails your receipt. SIDETRAKKED never sees or stores your card number.

Delivery dates

Business days are Monday to Friday, not counting BC statutory holidays.

  • Trip Compass: usually within 7 to 10 business days after you submit your completed Trip Planning Questionnaire, and no later than 15 business days after.
  • Trip Blueprint, with the Prep Guide, companion spreadsheet and map: usually within 7 to 10 business days after your Blueprint invoice is paid, and no later than 15 business days after.

Refunds and cancellation

Trip Compass

  • If you have paid but not yet submitted your Trip Planning Questionnaire, you can cancel at any time for a full refund of the CAD $400. Email admin@sidetrakked.com.
  • Once you submit your Trip Planning Questionnaire, the work on your Trip Compass begins and the CAD $400 is not refundable. You still receive your Trip Compass.
  • If I can’t deliver your Trip Compass for reasons on my side, you get the CAD $400 back in full.

Trip Blueprint

Once your Blueprint invoice is paid, the Blueprint is not refundable, with two exceptions:

  • If I can’t deliver your Blueprint, you get the Blueprint payment back in full.
  • Under BC consumer protection law, if your Blueprint still hasn’t arrived more than 30 calendar days after its latest delivery date, you can cancel and get the Blueprint payment back in full.

How refunds are paid

When a refund is due, I send it within 15 days of your cancellation. It goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, and usually appears on your statement within 5 to 10 business days after that. Credits towards future trips are not offered in place of a refund.

Your rights under the law

Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy you have under the consumer protection law that applies to you. I may also offer more than these terms, case by case.

Your information and the fine print

  • Your Trip Planning Questionnaire answers are used only to build your Trip Audit. How your information is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
  • Recommendations, prices and travel information are researched and dated as checked, and they can change. The Travel Planning, Information and Liability Disclaimer covers bookings you make with third parties, your responsibility for entry requirements and insurance, and limits of liability. It forms part of these terms.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply there.
